To say I am disappointed with the November 7th results is a gross understatement. I am worried about our country.
The current news consists of questions about the nominations being made by the president-elect. Some nominees have questionable histories or allegations of things that would normally disqualify them. But then, what is normal anymore? These nominees need to be fully vetted and confirmed by the Senate.
We must demand our Senators do their constitutional duty and pass judgment on these nominees. The election is over, so it is time to drop the party politics and do the job. Stop trying to find ways to avoid confirmation hearings to beat the system.
As I have reflected on the election outcome and the selection of some appointees, I can’t help but think about the nearly three million dedicated career federal employees—those professional men and women who keep the wheels of government moving. Let’s hope they can influence moderation and common sense. Our career federal employees can be a defense against the judgment of those appointees with a personal agenda.
What are your hopes, fears, and concerns? That’s 30…
One fear… mass deportations leading to a violent culture of ripping apart families, hugely escalating race discrimination with people sitting in holding camps for months/years with no real place to go as countries decline to receive them. People in holding camps being used for cheap labor…the new slavery? The economy quaking with the insecurity, for instance, housing values drop, when millions of people leaving floods the market with empty houses.
A second fear… cuts in Social Security that mean seniors go back to work, filling the crappy jobs left by removing the immigrants. The poor, get poorer and the rich get richer.
Third fear… Democracy falters being replaced by neo rich king and rich lords with poor surfs and military to control things inside the country and outside. Back to the dark ages.
Fourth…escalating abuse of our earth till it can’t sustain us and our grandchildren suffer and die. Extinction for some or most with the rich going last.
I can’t believe that Trump the felon should have been able to run for president in the first place and even been allowed to vote. How low have we sunk as a democracy! And now he’s allowing unqualified people to buy their way into his administration, starting with Musk, RFK,Jr. and Gaetz. And who’s going to pick, pack and ship our produce to the store when the immigrants are gone. Also, don’t get me started on global warming! I live in Warminster, PA where we have now gone almost two months without rain. Send some here from Florida and Texas. I and my family grieve for my shell of a country.
