Baby Boomer Social Club, residents born between 1946 and 1964. They advertised a winter holiday party in December in our large Keystone Multipurpose Room. Suggestions to bring/share/wear were:

Holiday treasure that made the downsizing cut

Holiday ugly, (or not), sweater or clothing

Drinks other than water

Holiday appetizer or sweets

Your name badge.

That's all I know about it as I wasn't invited. I was born in 1942, a member of the Silent Generation.

Thinking about your comment on gun violence, I’d like to see laws that ban the NRA from buying our legislators votes.

I’m from the Silent Generation but a resident of Ann’s Choice where I live just started a Baby Boomers Club. Thought you’d like to know.

They meet once a month and have a different program each month. In December it was Ugly Sweater and a holiday party with members donating snacks. In previous months, it was playing board games, name that tune, trivia, etc. I almost wish I was a Baby Boomer because their programs sound so great. Note: Three of our residents in December just started a Silent Generation Club called Silent Generation: Silent no More. They are holding an interest meeting later this week.

I think I posted a reply to your query on the new club. If not, let me know and I can repost it. I'm still getting used to the app.

I agree with your comments on gun control. No child wants to die for your Second Amendment rights. I would like to see a ban on assault weapons. Also more money for Ukraine so they can win over Russia. Otherwise it will be like Viet Nam and we may be drawn into war with Russia. My New Year’s resolution is to continue to be nice to my apartment neighbors, find something uplifting to say to those I pass in the hall and be a patient listener to others troubles.

I heard the bells on Christmas Day

Their old familiar carols play

And wild and sweet the words repeat

Of peace on earth good will to men

And in despair I bowed my head

There is no peace on earth I said

For hate is strong and mocks the song

Of peace on earth good will to men

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep

God is not dead nor doth he sleep

The wrong shall fail the right prevail

With peace on earth good will to men.

Happy new year to everyone🎉🥳

Agree with you on all counts. I have a tendency of sometimes being short sighted. I will do my part to consider all options and everyone's opinion.

Our Erickson communities stress diversity, love and inclusion. Many seniors grew up with racist upbringings. One day, a black resident was sitting by the window but when the server tried to seat another couple at her table, the husband remarked that he didn’t want to sit by the window. This is very sad to me. Last June was Pride Month and our diversity team brought in a drag show for the residents. It was well attended. Some of our employees (and possibly residents) have someone in their family who identify with the LBGTQ+ community. There were rainbow decorations and snacks and colorful popsicles. A thoroughly fun time.
